NIBS France fenders are designed for optimum shelf life. Their production meets the quality standard ISO 9001. The high-end materials make it a standard guarantee of safety during berthing operations at sea. The polyolefin polyethylene foam physically reticulated is associated with a coating of resin polyurethane (prepolymer amine Nibraprène®) without solvent, hot sprayed on the polyamide fiber reinforcement “rip stop».

This combination allows the realization of products having guaranteed quality. This manufacturing concept allows to fenders to undergo significant compression cycles without degradation of baseline characteristics. To maximize the life of foam fendering systems of NIBS France, our coating has an additional finishing touch with a wear layer in resin polyurethane Nibraprène ®. The dimensions and performance are determined basing on the characteristics of the boat to be equipped (length, width, draft, total displacement, impact speed, prismatic coefficient, …) Once the kinetic energy to be dissipated is determined, it remains to choose the kind of section, the coating thickness and the density appropriate of the foam in order to dissipate the energy levels, without being either too soft (crushing) or too rigid (bouncing).

It is important to know that all our boat fenders can be repaired and refurbished as new in our workshops, if the state of degradation requires. Onsite repair is also possible depending on the operations to be performed.

Our bout fendering systems can be installed on different types of boats (Pilot, Rescue, Military, Speed, Crew, Patrol, Diving, Oceanographic Vessels, Annex of Yachts, Skiff …)

The solution to apply foam fendering systems of NIBS France has many advantages:

  • Quick and easy repair by us: on site or at the factory according to the state of deterioration
  • Best ratio energy absorbed / reaction force than any other fendering system

  • No periodic control of pressure

Depending on the design of the boat to be equipped, it is possible to choose three distinct types of fixing:

This system provides a 100% removable solution facilitating assembly and disassembly operations during any maintenance. The straps can optionally be embedded in fender’s body in order to obtain a perfectly smooth surface of fenders avoiding any risk of hanging and tearing while maneuvering at sea. The recessing of straps requires a free solvent formulation as a guarantee to not change the locations of straps because of shrinkage. The sections may vary according to the design with a diameter ranging from 150 to 850 mm.

This system requires a very careful preparation of the hull to obtain a gluing of high quality (Instructions for gluing operations are available on request). The sections may vary depending on the design, with a Delta from 100 x 80 mm to 900 x 750 mm

  • Attachment by bolting on the hull

This system usually requires a metal structure of hull with a watertight compartment behind of the fender to maintain the watertight integrity of the ship. It is a compromise between the strapping and the gluing to obtain a rigid but removable mounting.The sections may vary according to the design with a Delta from 100 x 80 mm to 900 x 750 mm.

When choosing boat fendering equipment, two options are possible:

  • Full equipment: The first, the most luxurious covers the entire perimeter of the hull. It allows the boat on which it is set up to have a foolproof protection in any case.We recommend this type of equipment to the heavily used boats such as Pilot Boats and Semi-rigid Boats.
  • Partial equipment: The second type of equipment is more specific and adapted to the type of use of the boat. We propose, for example, the bow fender slightly oversized for a boat accosting regularly by boat-landing.

The boat fendering equipment can be composed of five elements:

Glued protections

The method of fixing by gluing is less expensive than fixing method by strapping. However, in case of need, it is very difficult to remove the fenders. Therefore, it is not advisable to choose this type of fixation on boats with a high rate of accosting. Our fenders are glued to the hulls of your boats with a waterproof polyurethane sealant Sikaflex®. Our glued fenders do not require any recessing. We produce several types of profiles such as:

Protections fixed by straps

The method of fixing by straps is suitable for vessels equipped with fenders requiring easy disassembly. Our straps are made to measure and can be covered with a NIBRAPRENE ® coating on request. We can also make a reduction of diameter on the fender body at the location of passage of straps so as they not to wear out during berthing. Our fenders set up by straps require a recessed installation:

  • Of type “U”
    • For installation in the recess of a hull of a “U” type, we advise a range of products with a DELTA-type section.
    • Dimensions:
      • Diameter from 200mm to 1m
      • Coating thickness from 5mm to 25mm
  • Of type “V”
    • For installation in the recess of a hull of  “V” or ” V truncated” types, we advise a range of products with a cylindrical section.
    • If the boat does not have recess installation (example: when it has glued fenders as original fenders), we can make a recess of “V” – type reported to stick to the hull. This “V” reported type may be either in metal or in polyethylene foam covered by NIBRAPRENE® coating.
